Mary Ward - Habotai
Mary Ward - Habotai
Mary Ward* is a rich peachy-pink, a bit of the sky at sunrise and a hint of the golden sunshine on its way. It has lots of colour but is not in any way bright.
We hand-dye and hand-cut these ribbons in our Somerset workshop
Made from the finest habotai silk, to give a soft, flowing effect, with a slight shimmery effect.
All dyes are handmade by us using plants we have sourced from the local area, reusing and recycling flowers and garden waste
These ribbons are cut on the bias, so drape beautifully
They are approximately 1.5m in length, which is a perfect length for tying on a bouquet, but if you require longer lengths you can easily stitch a few reels together
Available in 3 widths - 2cm, 5cm, 8cm
Supplied on handmade wooden peg, wrapped in tissue, and packaged in a box for protection
Perfect for adding a luxurious and romantic feel to your wedding or event
*Mary Ward was a born into a Catholic Yorkshire family in 1585 and quickly devoted herself to educating women through the foundation of the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary IBVM and campaigning for improved position of women in the church and society. She travelled extensively, walked across the Alps on foot during winter and was imprisoned numerous times for her beliefs, smuggling out letters written in lemon juice to continue her work. The Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary still exists and has a small museum dedicated to Mary Ward based at the Bar Convent in York - well worth a visit!
