Alice Thornton* is fire and flame. Bright orange it gathers light and throws it around, a real zinger! These ribbons are cut straight (not on the bias) so we can achieve the lovely softly frayed edges for a slightly different look to our standard ribbons.

• These silk ribbons are approximately 1.5m in length, which is a perfect length for tying on a bouquet, but if you require longer lengths you can easily stitch a few reels together

• We hand-dye and hand-cut these pure silk ribbons in our Somerset workshop

• Made from the finest habotai silk, to give a soft, flowing look, with a slight shimmery effect.

• All botanical dyes are handmade by us using plants we have sourced from the local area, reusing and recycling flowers and garden waste

*Alice Thornton lived in rural East Yorkshire in the 1600s, through the English Civil War and decades of turmoil and uncertainty. As a 17 yr old her virtue was threatened by a soldier and she had to 'hid myselfe privatly in great feare and a fright'. Her diaries detail her day to day life friendships and life with her children, her health, the trials of married life and how to make ends meet.
