Alice Thornton - noil silk ribbon

Alice Thornton* is fire and flame. Bright red and orange it gathers light and throws it around, a real zinger!

  • We hand-dye and hand-cut these silk ribbons in our Somerset workshop

  • Made from gorgeous pure noil silk, which is a textured matte fabric not unlike linen

  • All botanical dyes are handmade by us using plants we have sourced from the local area, reusing and recycling flowers and garden waste

  • They are approximately 1.5m in length, which is a perfect length for tying on a bouquet, but if you require longer lengths you can easily stitch a few reels together

  • Available in 2cm width

  • Supplied rolled, wrapped in tissue, and packaged in a box for protection

  • Perfect for adding a luxurious and romantic feel to your wedding or event

*Alice Thornton lived in rural East Yorkshire in the 1600s, through the English Civil War and decades of turmoil and uncertainty. As a 17 yr old her virtue was threatened by a soldier and she had to 'hid myselfe privatly in great feare and a fright'. Her diaries detail her day to day life friendships and life with her children, her health, the trials of married life and how to make ends meet.
